“When the project to restore this property began in 2015, a good half of the surrounding dry-stone walls were in a state of disrepair. The caves were choked with all manner of debris and refuse, dumped there by unknown individuals over the years. The first major undertaking was to rebuild the dry-stone walls—a distinctive local feature—and clear out the caves. Even during these initial stages, as the excavator hauled away the waste, a sense of wonder and curiosity grew rapidly. Remnants of the past began to emerge, and the interior of the structure—which lacked electricity and running water—did not disappoint. After 150 years of abandonment, the house gradually revealed its secrets: antique furniture, household items, kitchenware, clothing, and a host of other objects reappeared”.
